So I wonder if 7nm has any more OC room than 14nm did ? Because if the 3600X can be OC'd from 4.4 to say 4.6, it's going to be a bit of a bargain at $249. Hell, with 15% better IPC, even if it only makes 4.5 it will be -much- faster than a 2600X.

No. It will literally be as fast. The 3600 and 2600X are identical. The only difference is the boost profile and the included cooler. Just like 2600 and 2600X is.

The AMD X series is generally for people that just wants the best the silicon is able to give without having to manually tweak settings.

Obviously, meant 3600x in the first line.

    Obviously didn't read, I was talking about 3600X vs *2600X' not 3600.

I'd heard AMD is tooting 15-25% gains clock for clock..

If you truly want a workstation then Threadripper says hi.

I like the fact that the 65 watt 3700X will come with a Wraith Prism cooler. https://www.amd.com/en/products/specifications/pro...

Yeah.. their nice coolers. I wish they included them on more processors in the 2000 line. A lot of people use aftermarket coolers for their 2700x though and you can normally sell it for 30-50 bucks fairly quickly if you don't want it. They can be a little loud if you have tuned them properly but their good coolers.

Hah! Sorry, that's WAY too high on the price. I'm not getting my hopes up for those pre-release corporate benchmarks, either.. Performance better be AT LEAST as good as what they're saying.

We had the Intel monopoly exactly because of your attitude - AMD gives you 7nm 12 cores on AM4 for $499 which is cheaper than Intels 14nm 8 core 9900K, and people still moan that it is too expensive. What do you want, 16 cores for $50.

On top of all that, you get 7nm 8 core 16 threads that is basically 1:1 with Intel (according to AMD data) for half the price. And all AMD CPUs come with a box cooler that does not suck. What do you people want, seriously, if this is not enough and if you don't consider those CPUs for your next PC, be ready to be permanently bent over while Intel continues to violate your wallet and your rational thought down the future lane.
